Gavin Thain

Gavin has over 16 years’ experience in all aspects of commercial property, including property development, landlord and tenant leases, investment sales and purchases, and property finance.

His recent projects include leading the team representing The Crown Estate on the world’s first commercial wave and tidal energy development in the Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters. This complex project required innovative solutions for issues not previously considered in a legal context.

Gavin has also advised on the Scottish aspects of the Round 3 wind projects in the Economic Zone from 12nm – 200nm, and has negotiated exclusivity agreements with developers for the prospective development of off-shore wind farm sites in the Scottish territorial waters. His extensive experience also includes acting for developers in the acquisition of option agreements and licences for hydro-power projects around Scotland.
