Kathleen Docherty

Kathleen is an Associate in the private client department of our Edinburgh office. She has experience in dealing with a wide range of practice areas within private client and specialises in assisting clients with succession planning; putting in place powers of attorney; administering complex and high net-worth estates; as well as offering inheritance tax advice in relation to these personal matters.

Kathleen provides clients with comprehensive, compassionate, and pragmatic advice tailored to their unique circumstances. Her aim is to help clients navigate administrative “legalese” which is attributed to private client matters, ensuring that the process is as clear and straight forward as possible.

Kathleen completed her STEP Diploma in Trust and Estates (Scotland) in 2022 with an award of Distinction and is now a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners: a global professional body that helps families plan for their future. In addition to her own studies, Kathleen passes on her knowledge and experience to aspiring future solicitors as a tutor on the Diploma for Professional Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. She currently teaches both the Core and Advanced Private Client courses.

Outside of the office, Kathleen can be found visiting coffee shops with friends in her hometown of Glasgow. When feeling more adventurous, she can be found exploring the wilds of Scotland and Northern Ireland with her camera, honing her landscape photography skills.
