Solicitor - Family Law team - Dispute Resolution

The Role

The role is based in our Glasgow office with some work which may require attendance in our Edinburgh office whilst also accommodating work from home.  Full time is preferred but we will consider suitably qualified part time applicants.

We are looking for a solicitor specialising in family and child law who has relevant experience in a family law department or firm.

You will be responsible for

  • Delivering high quality advice to a variety of clients in family cases
  • Undertaking business development activity
  • Developing your client relationship and client care skills
  • Identifying and managing risk effectively in your work
  • Meeting agreed fee earning targets and managing financial tasks relevant to your role
  • Managing time effectively to maximise the profitability of your work

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Excellent technical skills with a solid understanding and broad experience of family law. You have extensive knowledge and experience in all types of family and child law actions raised in both the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session.
  • A wealth of experience in different forms of family law cases including actions seeking financial provision on divorce, child contact issues, adoption and permanence orders, to name but a few.
  • Be well versed in providing high quality and efficient service to individuals from all different backgrounds, including advising high net worth individuals on pre-nuptial, post-nuptial and cohabitation agreements.
  • Be keen and willing to participate in business development initiatives and a commitment to develop our business further. You will confidently build business relations and seek out and engage PR and press opportunities.
  • Be professional and flexible and able to work independently and when necessary collaboratively with others as a part of a close-knit family law team, whilst taking the lead in your own cases.
  • Be able to operate collaboratively with strong negotiation skills and be well versed in various forms of ADR.
