Investing in our people
Anderson Strathern is the first law firm in Scotland to have earned the double Gold Investors in People and Investors in Young People. We’ve been accredited as an Investor in People since 1998 and were delighted to be awarded Investors in People Gold in 2011. We welcomed the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to the young people in our firm and were truly proud to have achieved the Gold accreditation in Investors in Young People in 2016. Our young people represent the future of our business.
Management systems standards
These standards are a testament to the quality of our management systems. They are vital components in our client relationships, because they inspire confidence and trust. Many of the organisations and enterprises we work with are accredited to the same standards and expect equal levels of excellence in their professional partners.
Living Wage Scotland Accreditation
We have been an accredited Living Wage Employer since 2015 which means that our staff and contractors, such as our catering and cleaning staff, earn not just the minimum wage but the Living Wage. The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually, based on the cost of living in the UK. We believe that paying the Living Wage is the appropriate course of action as an ethical and responsible business.
Recognition of our professional development
Anderson Strathern has STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Platinum Employer Partner accreditation, the highest possible level under STEP’s Employer Partnership Programme. This accreditation is recognition of the strength of our learning and development provision and the value we place on giving our people opportunities to develop their professional skills and knowledge. STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning.
Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion
We are a member of the Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (enei) which is the UK's leading employer network covering all aspects of equality and inclusion issues in the workplace. We recognises that promoting a positive policy in respect of equality, diversity and inclusion will help us succeed in providing an outstanding service to all our clients and as an employer of choice in the legal market in Scotland. Our membership of enei, provides access to high quality advice, products and services which will help us achieve our strategic priorities as a business.
Scottish Business Pledge
In 2015 the firm signed up to the Scottish Business Pledge, a Scottish Government initiative that requires signatories to uphold the principles of fairness, equality, opportunity and innovation in the workplace. We signed up to the ambition of boosting productivity, competitiveness, sustainable employment, workforce engagement and development. We met the criteria set out in the Scottish Business Pledge which include paying a minimum of the living wage to all staff, investing in young people, innovation, supporting progressive workforce engagement and playing an active role in the community. We believe that signing up to the Scottish Business Pledge demonstrates our commitment to our employees, our clients and the wider Scottish economy.
