As a trainee you will gain experience in four different legal teams over a two-year period. We will do our best to ensure that you work in areas you are most interested in, and will make sure you enhance your technical and commercial skills. Every trainee is supported by a mentor who will provide guidance as you take on more and more responsibility for your workload.
Where you’ll work
Our trainees learn alongside a variety of talented lawyers in commercial real estate, corporate, dispute resolution, employment, rural and private client teams.

Summer Placement Programme 2019
We invite applications from third and fourth year and accelerated law degree students for our Summer Placement Programme which will consist of three weeks paid work experience during July/August in our Edinburgh office.
The aim of the programme is to increase your practical knowledge of working in a law firm and we offer interesting and challenging work for a wide variety of clients. We would like you to gain a broad experience of the business. The departments participating cover a variety of areas including Corporate, Commercial Real Estate, Dispute Resolution and Rural Land & Business.
During your time with us, you will be have a structured training programme incorporating legal research/work, presentations from partners, solicitors, trainees which will allow you the opportunity to learn more about the values and culture of Anderson Strathern. We will also have a social event organised during your placement. You will be assigned a mentor who will provide day-to-day advice and will also have support from the HR team.
The opportunity to feedback your experiences to your mentor and the HR team will be given at the end of your placement. In addition, if your placement is successful, you will be guaranteed an interview for a traineeship.
