Anderson Strathern announces Cancer Research UK as its new charity of the year
Cancer Research UK has been chosen by our people as the new Anderson Strathern charity of the year. For the past two years we have supported Parkinson’s UK, raising a total of £17,800 for them.
Each year our Corporate Social Responsibility Committee opens the employee-led selection process to choose a new charity. Cancer Research UK has been chosen as our charitable focal point for the year ahead, which means our staff will be organising and taking part in activities throughout the year to raise money for research into cancer.
As the UK’s largest charity, Cancer Research UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses while also providing information on cancer to the public and running campaigns aimed at raising awareness. Its pioneering work has helped to save millions of lives, doubling cancer survival rates in just 40 years.
Niamh Crawford, Relationship Manager at Cancer Research UK said,
“We’re working every day to find new and improved ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, to make it a disease people no longer die from.
Every step we take towards beating cancer relies on every pound donated. Together with Anderson Strathern, Cancer Research UK’s vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
It’s fantastic that Anderson Strathern have pledged to raise money for us in the coming year and we wish them the best of luck with their fundraising. The funds will go towards the charity’s life-saving research to beat over 200 types of cancer.”
We’ve already signed up to Scotland’s Virtual Kiltwalk at the end of April, which will be our first fundraising event for the charity. As well as raising vital funds for the charity, the event will provide staff the chance to share photos and experiences, creating opportunities for us to maintain our community spirit as we continue to work remotely.
