Anderson Strathern signs up to support Alzheimer Scotland

Following a staff vote, we have announced a new partnership with Scotland’s national dementia charity.

Our firm is embarking on a 12-month partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, which provides support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families. The organisation also campaigns for the rights of people with dementia and funds vital research.

Over the course of the year-long partnership, our 360 members of staff will take part in a range of fundraising activities and skills-based volunteering opportunities to support the charity – which we have partnered with previously.

As well as taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk and the Paths for All Step Challenge, the teams will raise awareness of the charity and its work, benefitting from Dementia Friends training courses – as well as using volunteering days to spend time at some of Alzheimer Scotland’s 25 Dementia Resource Centres across the country.

The new partnership comes as our firm’s previous charity link-up with Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity – which raised more than £16,000 – comes to an end.

Kirsty Stewart, Executive Lead of Fundraising & Engagement at Alzheimer Scotland said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Anderson Strathern for choosing Alzheimer Scotland as their charity partner this year. We’re very excited to see what this partnership can achieve, to support people living with dementia, their carers and families.

“Alzheimer Scotland depends on fundraised money to provide our services, including our Freephone 24/7 Helpline, National Dementia Advisor Service and centres in towns and cities across Scotland, campaigning to improve health and social care and research. Every pound raised helps us continue with our work to make sure that no-one faces dementia alone.”

Our Chair, Fraser Geddes, said: “Every year our teams commit wholeheartedly to our charity partnerships, and we’re all looking forward to the year ahead, working to support Alzheimer Scotland. The partnership encourages our people to go beyond simply fundraising by providing added support through volunteering and other activities to make a real difference to a cause they care about.

“We have enjoyed a fantastic 12 months working alongside Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and would like to thank them for an inspiring year of collaboration and partnership.”

Pippa Johnston, Deputy CEO of Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “The team at Anderson Strathern has made a real, material difference to so many children who have found themselves in hospital – and their families. From walking and running to skydiving and face painting, their enthusiasm has been clear to see and we have enjoyed a wonderful partnership over the past year.”
