We’re pleased to announce that Jonathan Guy, a partner in our Commercial Litigation Team, has been admitted as a Solicitor Advocate at a ceremony in the Court of Session.

This takes the number of Solicitor Advocates in our Advocacy & Legal Opinions to eight and increases the strength and depth of the specialist advocacy service which is offered to clients. As well as advocacy, the unit provides legal opinions to clients and expert witness reports for legal firms throughout Scotland.

Advocacy has been a key part of Jonathan’s legal career, having started off as a Procurator Fiscal Depute in the Procurator Fiscal and Crown Office Service prosecuting crime. In private practice Jonathan focuses on commercial disputes, health and safety, personal injury, child law and licensing.

Following the admission ceremony, Jonathan said:

I feel very privileged to have joined the group of Solicitor Advocates admitted in Scotland. I have always enjoyed appearing in court and I am looking forwarding to using the additional range of court room skills which the advocacy training  has taught.

Head of the Advocacy & Legal Opinions Unit, Robert Carr, said:

Anderson Strathern has a fantastic team of Solicitor Advocates and I’m delighted to see Jonathan joining that team. I have worked with Jonathan for several years and his background as a prosecutor adds to the great range of advocacy skills he has. As a major full service law firm with experts now in every area, we really are ideally placed to provide the expertise which clients are looking for.
