Anderson Strathern hosts the Scottish Young Lawyers Association
Anderson Strathern is supporting the Scottish Young Lawyers Association (SYLA) by hosting two of its events in September at the firm’s Edinburgh offices.
The support for SYLA is part of the firm’s commitment to helping develop Scotland’s young lawyers. The firm also has a direct relationship with the SYLA as two of its young solicitors, Laura Meldrum and Lucy Thornton, are President and Vice President of the organisation.
We are supporting the ‘Beyond the Basics’ event series in September, with the first event on Wednesday 20 September focusing on Fatal Accident Inquiries. The conduct of Fatal Accident Inquiries in Scotland were reformed following a raft of changes, which came into force earlier this year. Dominic Scullion, Solicitor Advocate at Anderson Strathern, will examine these changes and explore how they will affect the way FAIs are conducted in the Scottish courts.
The second event on Wednesday 27 September is an interactive pleadings workshop for SYLA members chaired by Dr David Parratt, Faculty of Advocates’ Director of Training and Education. Tickets for this event cost £5 and all funds will go to the LawScot Foundation.
Murray McCall, Managing Partner of Anderson Strathern said:
It’s great to see the emphasis the SYLA put on developing young lawyers throughout the country and I’m delighted Anderson Strathern can help to play a part in that by hosting SYLA events and encouraging our own young lawyers to play an active part in the organisation.
