With more than 30 years of experience in commercial property, David focuses his extensive expertise on landlord and tenant, property development, corporate support, acquisitions and disposals and the environmental aspects of property transactions.
He has advised a huge and diverse range of clients on complex and time critical deals, including The Crown Estate, British Telecom, BAA plc, BAM Properties and Bannatyne Fitness.
Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Commercial Leasing, David has also been closely involved in some of Scotland’s most important strategic property deals in the last three decades.
Beyond Scotland, David is highly experienced at liaising with large English firms in cross-border deals that involve major property portfolios. He also has a strong interest in social housing, advising clients such as East Lothian Housing Association for over 15 years, Kingdom Housing Association, and Grampian Housing Association.
In addition to acquisition and site assembly work, David has provided advice on mid-market rentals and ‘rent a roof’ schemes in recent times. Bringing the benefits of his extraordinary experience and knowledge, David helped to update and augment the Landlord and Tenant section of Volume 21 of the Stair Memorial Encyclopaedia of Scotland – a definitive legal textbook.
Equally energetic and focused in his personal life, David loves all kinds of sports, including cycling. A biking highlight was a dramatic trip around the Outer Hebrides and Skye.
