Lorraine is one of only five accredited specialists in data protection and freedom of information law in Scotland. With over 15 years of experience in her field, she advises both public and private sector clients on compliance with data protection principles, including data sharing, handling subject access requests, reviewing and drafting contractual terms in relation to processing of personal data, risk assessments and advising on the application of exemptions and exceptions under FOISA and the EIRs.

Lorraine previously worked for the Scottish Information Commissioner for eight years, experience invaluable in shaping her practise. Her unique blend of experience gained across the regulator, policy, and legal spaces means Lorraine is ideally placed to anchor her advice in the current climate, while keeping one eye on what future changes could mean for her clients. Her current areas of interest include the data protection implications of Artificial intelligence (AI).

For the last 10 years she has regularly led masterclass sessions and spoken at major information law conferences and events, and has tailored bespoke training packages for public authorities, civil society and media. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Glasgow in FOI law.

In her free time, Lorraine finds peace by wandering along beaches in all weathers, and will never lose her love of ice skating.
