Robert Carr

Robert is a Consultant and Solicitor Advocate in our Dispute Resolution Department who has previously won ‘Specialist of the Year’ at the Scottish Legal Awards.

Robert’s 40 years in litigation includes representation on behalf of members of the Royal College of Nursing and a wide range of individual, commercial and institutional clients at every tier of the Scottish civil and criminal court structure.  He advises public bodies, including regulators, on the interpretation of their governing legislation, and acts on their behalf when their decisions or actions are challenged, including by judicial review.

He is a Regent of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a former Prince of Wales’ Ambassador for Corporate Social Responsibility in Scotland. Robert is a Past President of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and the Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Court and is a member of the Fair Work Convention and the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland City Region Deal Regional Enterprise Council. Robert chairs the Edinburgh Airport Consultative Committee and the East Lothian Advice Consortium and is a member of the East Lothian Partnership Connected Economy Group.

Robert has a passion for a fair and green agenda, how we can be better ancestors and is always in search for intersections where enterprises and people can prosper, communities can flourish and environmental concerns can be addressed.
