Stephen McDonagh

Stephen is our first port of call on financial regulation and practice issues and has extensive expertise advising on a wide range of regulatory issues affecting banks, insurers and commercial lenders, there are very few significant deals where Stephen has not had some involvement. With 10 years’ real estate transactional experience and teaching expertise, he is well equipped to present complex and changing regulation to clients in a straightforward and engaging way.

Stephen is responsible for the Group’s Risk & Compliance strategy, acts as Money Laundering Reporting Officer, Data Protection Officer and, more recently, Deputy Cashroom Manager. He advises many of our top clients including the Crown Estate and Buccleuch and is involved in almost every major tender – the most convoluted exam questions being his speciality. Additionally, with his talented team, Stephen makes sure that Anderson Strathern’s market leading Sector Knowledge is delivered – keeping the UK property sector up to date with emerging market and legal developments.

Stephen is a man of many talents and is ideally placed to meet the various demands thrown up by the ever growing trend in professional regulation. Before embarking on his law career, Stephen worked in both business and education. He is also a qualified interpreter.

To relax, Stephen would ideally like to climb K2, but will postpone this ambition until they’ve installed a chair lift… In the meantime, he’ll settle for a round of golf at the Augusta National.
