Payroll Adviser (part time)
We have an exciting part time role as Payroll Adviser to join our HR Department in Edinburgh or Glasgow. This role, whilst in the HR Department, works closely between HR, Finance and our external payroll bureau.
The role
Reporting to the HR Director, this role requires someone who has previously managed payroll and understands the alignment of payroll and budgetary process. The role holder is responsible for ensuring the monthly payroll data is accurately and timeously uploaded, processed and checked with the HR Adviser. Monthly reports produced for the Finance department must be accurate and on time.
You will be responsible for
- Accurately managing the Firm’s monthly payrolls ensuring compliance with signing off processes are completed
- Managing the relationship with our external payroll provider ensuring monthly review meetings are scheduled; feedback is provided and any issues are dealt with quickly and/or escalated to the HR Director
- Providing monthly payroll reports to the Finance team
- Ensuring all payroll records are correctly maintained and updated timeously
- Updating payroll procedures as required and share any process changes with the HR and Finance teams
- Maintaining standardised documentation for audit compliance to mitigate any potential risks
- Ensuring statutory payments are correctly documented and processed in accordance with legislation
- Being the main interface between Finance and HR departments on payroll and budget monitoring.
- Maintaining and providing monthly payroll budget v actual cost analysis reports to the Finance Team, ensuring all staff movements are captured.
What you will need to succeed
- A solid understanding of reward and benefits – including managing a payroll system; tax, pensions, SSP, SMP procedures, legislation and calculations
- 2 years+ reward/payroll experience – ideally with a payroll qualification
- Excellent IT skills – in particular Excel utilising formula and ability to present clearly
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
- Positive and flexible attitude in delivering to high standard in a busy environment
