Senior Legal Cashier
A new opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Cashier in our Cashroom function in Edinburgh
Purpose of the role
To support and assist in the management of the Cashroom function to ensure that the firm’s financial management system works effectively, and firm and client cash is accounted for accurately and according to relevant rules and regulation.
Your role is to:
- Manage a small team of Cashroom staff
- Deputise for the Head Cashier where required, taking lead and responsibility
- Develop, train and supervise Cashroom staff
- Understand the scope of the Law Society of Scotland and SRA Accounts Rules and how they impact on the administrative tasks performed within the Cashroom
- Work across all the firm’s offices
- Input and progress data accurately and promptly onto the firm’s Practice Management System
- Reconcile and replicate data across systems as appropriate
- Liaise with fee-earners regarding transactions
- Use on-line banking systems for processing payments
- Provide audit evidence and ensure compliance with Law Society of Scotland and SRA rules for client funds
- Recognise, manage and report risk effectively
- Report actual and potential breaches as per the firm’s policy
- Design and document processes and procedures.
- Identify and implement process improvement
- Drive efficiencies in the team
As a Senior Legal Cashier, you will be expected to:
- Support the Head Cashier and Deputise as Head Cashier where required
- Manage team members
- Show highly developed organisational and people management skills
- Be confident working with the Practice Management System
- Have a positive attitude, be numerate and methodical
- Be a team worker who can also work using your own initiative
- Handle difficult people and situations successfully
- Identify and manage risk effectively in your work and for your team
- Have a sound knowledge of LSS and SRA Accounts rules, AML legislation and Third-Party Payments
